Having perplexed meteorologists and worn out Air Force tracking crews, Hurricane Dennis nudged closer to the Southeast on Friday, appearing to threaten Florida but still forecast to intensify and turn on Charleston, S.C.
Meteorologists cautioned, however, that Dennis may stall again, this time off the South Carolina coast.
For residents of Hampton Roads and the North Carolina Outer Banks, it appears Dennis will not be a direct threat, although once ashore its remnants could come northward and affect the region.
The Navy is keeping a wary eye on Dennis, concerned for the large number of ships and shore ...
