Hurricane Irene is expected to work its way over the North Carolina sounds late today and to be just off Virginia Beach early Monday, speeding to the northeast.
Unless the storm takes a dramatic - and unlikely - turn to the east, today should be downright miserable. But ``it shouldn't be much worse than a nor'easter'' in Hampton Roads, said Hugh Cobb, a meteorologist at the National Weather Service office in Wakefield.
