No youth or adult worshiping last week at Wedgwood Baptist Church in Fort Worth, Texas, was carrying a firearm when 47-year-old Larry Gene Ashworth, armed to the teeth and mouthing epithets against Baptists and other Christians, shot three people dead in the lobby and then fired repeatedly into the congregation.
The deranged Ashworth carried powerful handguns designed to accommodate 15-round ammunition clips. Before he killed himself with one of his weapons, he had murdered seven people and wounded seven others.
