Peyton Manning, Marvin Harrison and Edgerrin James have revived a popular nickname. They have one more game in which to revive their team.
When the Dallas Cowboys rose to NFL power in the early '90s, quarterback Troy Aikman, receiver Michael Irvin and running back Emmitt Smith earned a sobriquet: "The Triplets."
This, of course, was nonsensical, which didn't matter, because this is sports. Like the Colts' stars, the Cowboys' power trio didn't look alike, act alike, hang out with each other or play the same position - but "Triplets" was cuter than the more accurate "Troika, Triumvirate or Trey."
