NORFOLK -- A year ago, the very sight of Old Dominion's Cal Bowdler at a free-throw line was reason enough for Monarch fans to make like that proverbial See-No-Evil monkey: hands over the eyes, and quickly.
Harsh, but true. Bowdler's foul shooting was most foul.
Sadly, the 6-foot-10 forward from Sharps, Va., was as dull as could be from that lonely strip of paint. He'd leave them short, he'd toss them long, sometimes he'd even hit nothing at all. No iron. No twine.
No chance.
As a junior, 55 percent was Bowdler's take from the free-throw line, and 48 percent the season before that. If it was almost ...
