VIRGINIA BEACH -- The Virginia Beach Republican Party chairman resigned Monday night, three days after the city GOP's most successful fund-raiser.
J.P. Godsey, vice president of investments for Interstate/Johnson Lane, a financial firm, said he wants to dedicate more time to work and getting married to his longtime girlfriend, Judi Jones.
``I no longer have the time to dedicate to the day-to-day operations of running the largest Republican Party in the state of Virginia,'' Godsey said.
Godsey, 41, has served as chairman of the Virginia Beach Republican Committee for the past three years.
