Ray Evernham's words will never leave Chuck Buben: ``It's not going to sound like much...but some day, you're going to thank God how lucky you are.''
As Evernham spoke to the race fan at Pocono International Raceway last June, the advice rang hollow. Buben felt angry, not lucky. His mother had suffered a brain aneurysm the previous month. Days later, doctors diagnosed his 3-year-old daughter, Lauren, with acute lymphocytic leukemia, the most common type of leukemia in children.
Buben's only luck had been to spot Evernham near the garages and stop him.
