BLACKSBURG -- Virginia Tech plans to raise $3 million in private funds to create a Civil War academic center.
Tech officials say The Virginia Center for Civil War Studies will build upon the university's extensive collection of Civil War books and the reputation of history professor James Robertson, the author of an acclaimed biography of Stonewall Jackson. Robertson will be the center's first director.
