Tomorrow, the Charette Health Care Center, the world's largest military hospital, will be officially dedicated, replacing the nation's first Naval Hospital, which remains nearby.
It's a fitting time to look at the history of this storied piece of Portsmouth.
The beginnings:
In its earliest days, the property where the hospitals stand went by the name ``Mosquito Point.''
Later, after an owner had erected some of the structures there, it became known by the less ominous Windmill Point.
