ELIZABETH CITY -- Visiting a Coast Guard career day Tuesday, 16-year-old Jeanine Jackson would not be convinced to enlist by the action-packed videos of open-water rescues or the slick pamphlets picturing a strike force team racing to the scene of an oil spill.

The Northeastern High School junior would never enlist like her father, mother, an uncle and two aunts did.

No, Jackson would never enlist, but she might sign up as an officer after college.

``Put me with the top dogs,'' Jackson said while she waited to be herded with the rest of her classmates through a C-130 airplane at the Coast Guard Air Station here.
