CHESAPEAKE -- Besieged by persistent claims that their operations are inefficient, the city's mosquito-control commissioners have offered a proposal to consolidate the five autonomous commissions into one.
According to a three-page plan sent to the City Council, the commission would be based at one central office, removing staff from satellite offices throughout the city. The commissioners say the reorganization would save money and streamline procedures while maintaining services.
