NORFOLK -- Even after 72,000 people and 16,052 cars showed up on opening day Friday, people just kept pouring in to MacArthur Center mall on Saturday.
By 4 p.m. Saturday, mall officials estimated the day's attendance at 52,000. By 8 p.m., it had risen to 91,000.
Store officials were reporting exuberant results. L'Occitane had rung up more sales than at any of its other grand openings. Sales at Pottery Barn were 40 percent over its goal. Athletic Attic tripled its sales goal.
The $300 million mall features Nordstrom, a flagship Dillard's and 110 specialty shops. Still to come: ...
