VIRGINIA BEACH -- Look up in the sky where the Lynnhaven River's eastern and western branches come together and you'll probably see, soaring overhead, more osprey than you've ever seen before.
Almost 10 pairs of the big ``fish hawks'' have built giant stick nests on nesting platforms at the confluence of these two waterways. The birds have become as familiar a sight as sea gulls, if not quite as numerous. One nest has as many as three youngsters almost ready to fledge.
And that is just one location along the river. Osprey are nesting up and down both branches. Their numbers indicate powerfully the strong ...
