NORFOLK -- Old Dominion University has become like a band of higher-education ``revolutionaries,'' seeking new and better ways to deliver education while raising its academic standards and rewarding outstanding teaching, university President James V. Koch said Thursday.
It's a melding of traditional goals with newfangled ways of achieving them, and it's not finished, Koch told some 375 professors, administrators and other school staff during his annual State of the University address.
The traditional includes higher qualifications required of freshmen next fall, and new teaching awards beginning this one.
