Suzanne Rice had been a teacher since 1984, and although she loved the profession she has since left the classroom for the principal's office.
Rice, who last year was the assistant principal at Elephants Fork Elementary School, is the new principal at Oakland Elementary.
``I feel I can affect more children in a positive way as a principal,'' said Rice, 36. ``It wasn't that I was tired of teaching, I just think that this is another way of being directly involved in the betterment of children's education.''
