Thanks to an unusual combination of caring people, a black snake is as fit as ever after swallowing a golf ball at Eagle Haven Golf Course on Little Creek Naval Amphibious Base.
The hapless snake's saga began when a player told Course Marshal Joe LaCaze that he had seen a snake that looked like it had swallowed a golf ball. LaCaze went to check out the slow moving animal, which ``didn't look too good,'' he said. But when he tried to capture the critter, it crawled down a hole.
``The golf ball lodged in the hole,'' LaCaze said, ``and I pulled him out by the tail.''
