MANTEO -- For three innings, San Gabriel Valley bats were quiet. Too quiet.
Trailing 2-0 in the fourth inning, San Gabriel exploded for eight runs on seven hits, including a bases-loaded single by Adam Summerell, and went on to defeat Columbia Basin, Wash., 10-7. San Gabriel advances to today's Babe Ruth Baseball 16-18 World Series championship game.
San Gabriel had to fight off a late sixth-inning rally by the River Dogs for the win. Bryan Johnson's two-run homer was the big blast for the River Dogs.
The final will be televised at 1 p.m. on Home Team Sports.
