ELIZABETH CITY -- Leading by just 8-0 at the half, Northeastern rode a second half offensive surge to a 27-8 win over Manteo in non-conference high school football action Friday night.
A slick field hurt both teams on offense, but Northeastern finally took advantage of a worn-down Manteo defense.
On a first and 10 from the Northeastern 44, quarterback Jermaine Wilson hit Kinta Griffin with a 33-yard pass down to the Manteo 18. On the next play, Wilson slipped by three tacklers and raced 18 yards for a touchdown with 26 seconds left in the third quarter. Asa Maass kicked the extra point and the Eagles led 15-0. ...
