VIRGINIA BEACH -- Despite the wishes of hundreds of residents, City Council gave its blessing Tuesday night for Coastal Training Technologies Corp. to build a corporate headquarters next to Mount Trashmore Park.
The council voted 8-2, with one abstention, to rezone the last significant tract of undeveloped land next to the park to accommodate the multimedia firm. Residents of several neighborhoods have fought the rezoning since July, hoping instead to convince city officials to expand Trashmore.
Several procedural matters still remain before Coastal can break ground. But, once the company clears those hurdles, ...
