NORFOLK -- The room felt fairly bare before Neleh Barcarse placed the slender, carved ``sungka'' game board on the coffee table and filled its cups with shells.
``There,'' she said. ``Now it feels a little more ethnic.''
Today, the furniture, plants and pictures are in place for the grand opening of Old Dominion University's new Filipino-American Student Cultural Center, a student and community center that is the first of its kind on the East Coast. More than 250 campus and community leaders are expected to attend this evening's ceremony as well as Philippine ambassador Raul ch. Rabe'.
