So what does old Newport News High School have to do with Virginia Beach?
Why, that's the alma mater of Mayor Meyera E. Oberndorf, class of '58.
To keep those memories fresh in her mind, the mayor has an artist's rendering of the now-closed school in her office at City Hall.
The sketch was presented to her earlier this year by Don Hipple, an asphalt road crew leader for the city's Public Works Department, who says he found it in an antique store.
