His run with fame is nearly over. And while Al Flowers has had fun with it, treating this newfound celebrity thing with a smile, it sure has made living his normal life a bear.
So he's ready to get it over with.
About 12:15 p.m. on Sunday, Virginia Beach's Flowers will line up a 10-foot putt on a golf course outside Tampa, Fla. By 12:16, Flowers will know whether he's $50,000 richer or golf's newest millionaire.
Flowers, remember, is the lucky fellow who - after his name was randomly plucked in a national contest - putted his way to a chance to win $50,000 a year for 20 years from the Gillette company. He gets that ...
