SUFFOLK -- Sweet peanut butter. Salty peanut butter. Robust peanut butter, too.
Those are the flavors that Chinese, Brazilian and German taste buds dictate when it comes to the international peanut butter market.
And there's no better expert on the peanut butter tastes of the world than James R. Pond Jr., president of the 75-year-old Producers Peanut Co., said Robert P. Rich, director of international marketing for the Virginia Department of Agriculture.
If you travel overseas, you'll see national American brands like Jif or Peter Pan, Rich said. But that's the American product on foreign shelves.
