On Aug. 21, 1997, an article was published in The Virginian-Pilot concerning a Filipino-American empowerment conference in Washington, D.C. A number of statements were made in the article that stirred the Filipino-American community and caused exchanges of strong words among us. The statements were misunderstood. The only purpose of the statements was to call for action to plead for Filipino-American unity. I am here again to stir the pot.
