RICHMOND -- Black felons get slapped with more prison time than white felons in Richmond courts, and the disparity between sentences for blacks and whites is particularly wide in the city's South Side, the Richmond Times-Dispatch reported today.
In the South Side's Manchester court, where veteran Judge James B. Wilkinson presides, blacks convicted of violent felonies such as murder, rape or aggravated assault received an average of more than 7.5 years in prison.
