VIRGINIA BEACH -- After 18 months of traveling from Minnesota to Georgia in search of talent, Shawn McDonald is back where he says he belongs, coaching again for the Hampton Roads Mariners, who are preparing for their season opener in 15 days.
``It feels good to be doing what I'm paid to do,'' said the 45-year-old Long Island native.
The Mariners were dormant last season. They had moved up from Division III in the USISL to the A-League, soccer's equivalent of Triple-A, but without an adequate stadium, they sat out a season rather than lose an anticipated $500,000.
