BUXTON -- Proposed funding for a football program at Cape Hatteras School has some residents ready to stand up and cheer. They say the time has come for the gridiron game at the island school because it will boost academics and provide another athletic choice for children.
Others, however, call it a financial fumble that will dilute the strength of the tiny school's existing athletic program and take away money for needed academic improvements.
The proposed Board of Education capital budget of more than $1.3 million includes $10,000 to cover start-up costs for football at Cape Hatteras School. Dare County ...
