VIRGINIA BEACH -- On a night hot enough to cause dehydration, Granby coach Allison Ankerson got more water than her team.
She received a celebratory water-cooler shower, courtesy of her players, after the Comets' historic 1-0 win over Gloucester Tuesday in the Eastern Region Tournament at First Colonial.
Granby (11-4-1) will play Princess Anne, which beat Hickory 7-0, in a region semifinal at 7:30 p.m. today at First Colonial. Kempsville (13-3-2) plays Maury (11-1-3) in the other semifinal at 5:30 p.m.
Semifinal winners qualify for the state soccer tournament and play for the region title at 5:30 p.m. ...
