Juvenile Migraines Phyllis has suffered from migraine headaches for the last five years. Most of us would agree that this is not an eyebrow raising statement. However, most of us would be wrong if one additional piece of information were added: Phyllis is six years old.
The migraine headache is much more common in children than you would think, and may start as early as the first year of life. It's estimated that four out of every 100 children and adolescents are affected. Boys and girls suffer from migraines at about the same frequency until the age of eleven; then girls are affected more often than boys. This difference increases with increasing age.
