VIRGINIA BEACH -- Volunteers eager to help Friendship Village residents find jobs started a computer training program last August with high hopes.
But more than nine months later, after working with a handful of residents in the low-income community, the Neighborhood Network has yet to place anyone in an entry-level job.
Organizers think they know why. And they think they're beginning to collect the tools to turn things around.
About nine adults have been able to attend the night classes in touch-typing and word processing since the program started, said volunteer Irvin E. Beard.
