Kanika Deans tallied up her losses: $35 for the cellular, $100 to replace her broken car window and $80 for the radio.

All told, whoever broke into her '85 Nissan Sentra is costing her $215. More, if she decides to get a car alarm or increase her insurance coverage.

But it could have been worse, Deans said.

``I'm glad they didn't take the car or wreck the car,'' said Deans, 21, who works at the Wal-Mart pharmacy on E. Little Creek Road. ``But you work hard, you spend your money on something and then somebody just comes and takes it. I feel sorry for whoever it happens to.''
