TOKYO, Dec 25 Asia Pulse - Retail prices for gasoline at the busiest stations in Tokyo and Osaka have fallen 2-3 yen per liter in December, a Nihon Keizai Shimbun survey found.

The decrease, the first in 18 months in these areas, is in response to the recent plunge in crude oil prices and expected cuts in wholesale prices by oil refiners from January.

The survey was conducted on weekends among gas stations along main roads in the two large urban areas.

The poll showed that in a two-week period, the per-liter price of gas dropped 2-3 yen to 98-99 yen at service stations along the No. 8 loop road in the Tokyo metropolitan area.
