Labor unrest made for a bumpy ride at United Airlines and its parent, Elk Grove Township-based UAL Corp.

Work slowdowns caused by the airline's powerful pilots union, coupled with bad weather, crippled the airline's summertime operations and resulted in more than 25,000 flight cancellations.
