Shirley B. Southerland has always wanted to be a nurse and help the young. For the last 10 years, she has been able to do both, as the school nurse at Great Bridge High.
And Southerland has her hands full; she is the sole nurse for about 1,700 students.
``It can get very busy, but it's manageable,'' said Southerland, 58, who lives in the River Walk section of Chesapeake.
