CHARLOTTE -- It was a near-perfect blending of old and new.
The grand old man of the Washington Redskins' offense - running back Terry Allen - ran 25 times for 141 yards and scored two touchdowns.
Two offseason acquisitions on the defense - safety Jesse Campbell and cornerback Cris Dishman - forced two of Washington's four turnovers.
Add to that an offensive line that gradually gained confidence and dominance against the Carolina Panthers' zone blitz defense and the result was a 24-10 season-opening upset victory for the Redskins Sunday night at Ericsson Stadium.
