DISTRICT CHAMPION Western Branch had 10 players named to 12 spots on the All-Southeastern District football first team and also claimed the offensive player and coach-of-the-year honors in balloting by district coaches.
Seniors Brian Stoll, Anthony Wolfe, Michael Query, Omar Hurdle, Emmett Johnson, Keith Burnell, Doug Casper, Frank Lamagna and juniors David Johnson and Jarnae Somerville earned first-team honors as the Bruins (11-1) went 7-0 in the Southeastern and advanced to the Eastern Region final. Burnell was named the offensive player of the year. Lew Johnston earned coach of the year.
