Last Week's Issue of Faith: Is applause appropriate during a worship service?
Here is this week's reader response:
From Gail M. Hess of Portsmouth: ``My answer is a definite yes (to applause in church). I belong to what you term a Charismatic, or more formally, a Pentecostal church. We most assuredly include applause as part of our worship experience. In fact, our worship and song leader often exhorts us to give God a clap offering as an element in our worship service. Furthermore, the Bible speaks of the practice of giving God a clap offering as we worship: Psalm 47:1 and 98:8, Isaiah 55:12 and 2 Kings 11:12.
