RICHMOND -- The Democrats' century-old control of the House of Delegates was shaken Tuesday when a longtime member announced he will resign and go to work for Republican Gov.-elect James S. Gilmore III.
Del. David G. Brickley, D-Prince William, will leave a legislative seat he has held for 22 years to direct the Department of Conservation and Recreation for the incoming administration.
Brickley's resignation - effective Jan. 13 - drops the Democrats' control to 50 of the 100 seats in the House. Prince William County has voted strongly Republican in many recent elections. GOP officials said they are hopeful that ...
