Shopping by the book: Those who have any doubt that catalogs are becoming more sophisticated need only pick up Neiman Marcus' latest offering to be convinced.
This hefty 180-page, full-color guide to spring merchandise is dubbed ``The Book,'' and is the first of 10 such magazine-style publications the retailer will produce this year.
The books are being mailed to a targeted list of customers every month except June, July and December, replacing the 40 catalogs the store averaged annually. The retailer will maintain its separate direct mail division.
