The stray and expecting beagle - named by federal worker Kim Smith after the now-infamous feature of some Florida ballots - gave birth to six healthy puppies in a bathtub Christmas Day.
Ms. Smith, who called the dog her "pregnant Chad" as part of an office gag, has ensured Election 2000 will live on a lot longer through Chad's puppies: The two males are named Cheney and Scalia; the four females are named Tipper, Dimple, Butterfly and Tex.
Each pup weighed between 13 and 15 ounces some 48 hours after birth.
