One of my bittersweet traditions at the end of the year is to visit with people I've profiled, to see how the year has treated them.
It's interesting to hear about changes in their lives, and whether publicity has made a difference, good or bad. But it is sad, too, because this year cost us some of the older people I've written about in recent years.
This year, the families of the crew of the Linda E finally learned what happened to the Lake Michigan fishing boat on a calm winter day in December 1998. From the start, the family of Captain Leif Weborg contended that a barge likely ran the little boat down, as the crew headed to Port Washington with their catch.
