George Shinn says his bid to bring an NHL franchise to Hampton Roads is still alive despite the Hartford Whalers' move to Raleigh.
``I don't think it hurts our chances in Norfolk at all,'' said Shinn, owner of the NBA's Charlotte Hornets. ``I know Raleigh is close to Hampton Roads, but I don't think the ticket markets or television markets would overlap.
``I plan to pursue bringing an NHL team to Norfolk.''
Shinn's bid for an NHL expansion franchise in Hampton Roads was rejected by the league in February. Shinn then vowed to purchase an existing franchise and move it to Hampton Roads.
