COUNTRYSIDE: My husband and I recently found an old 1932 issue of Capper's Farmer magazine. One of the articles mentioned the use of brewer's yeast in the grain bucket of calves providing vitamin B, and thus stimulating appetite. The article stated the growth of calves to be one-third greater. I wondered if the brewer's yeast stimulated the growth of the "good bugs" in the rumen? I found this all quite interesting because I raise four or five bucket calves every year and I am always looking for dietary information.
In the Sept./Oct. issue, you mentioned using brewer's yeast in duck feed. Can you tell me what is the benefit of feeding animals brewer's yeast? What ...
