PROJECT OVERVIEW:

Angola currently produces some 750,000 barrels per day (b/d) of crude oil. And, development plans are said to be aimed at increasing output to 1.3 million b/d day by 2005. However, the national refining capacity amounts to only 35,000 b/d coming from a plant in Luanda. As a result, the state owned SOCIEDADE NACIONAL DE COMBUSTIVEIS DE ANGOLA (SONANGOL) is currently said to be seeking international financial and technical backers for the construction of a proposed export refinery.
