VIRGINIA BEACH -- Van J. Voorhees Sr., 50, of the 3600 block of Sea Gull Road, died Feb. 15, 1996, in a Norfolk hospital due to a complication of diabetes.
Mr. Voorhees was born 50 years ago in Ottumwa, Iowa. He was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church and was on the St. Nicholas Parish Council. Mr. Voorhees was very involved with the YMCA; he served as past president of Virginia Beach YMCA. He umpired and coached many youth throughout his life. He will be missed and loved by many.
