More Women Understand Link Between HPV and Cervical Cancer

Internet Education Campaign Launched During Cervical Cancer Month

WASHINGTON, Jan. 4 /PRNewswire/ --

In commemoration of Cervical Cancer Month, the National Cervical Cancer Public Education Campaign (http://cervicalcancercampaign.org ) today released the findings of a new national cervical cancer awareness survey, which found that 1 in 5 women are aware that HPV (human papillomavirus) causes cervical cancer. This indicates a significant increase from 1998 when 19 out of 20 women responded that they did not know that there is a link between HPV and cervical cancer.
