The Nesting Bird Yurt Co. is taking its yurts to Utah just in time for the opening of the cross-country skiing and biathlon World Cup events, which start next week.
Jenny Pell, co-founder and co-owner of the small Port Townsend business that manufactures the tent-like circular structures, traveled to Heber Valley, Utah, earlier this week, where she expects to complete the installation of two 337-square-foot models today.
And if all goes well for Pell, she might even return home at the end of her two-week trip with solid plans to build yurts for the 2002 winter Olympics in Salt Lake City.
