Seven current and former Microsoft employees accused the software giant of pervasive racism in its hiring and promotion practices and of fomenting a ``plantation mentality,'' as they slapped the company with a $5 billion bias lawsuit yesterday.
Expanding the scope of a previously filed suit, the African American employees at the company said that they have been passed over for promotion by less qualified white employees, that African Americans are paid less for the same job than white employees, and that in some instances managers have used racial epithets.
