NATO provided Poland with satellite photographs showing Russia's transfer of tactical nuclear weapons to its Baltic Sea military base, U.S. officials said yesterday.
The photographs showed the deployment last summer of the nuclear arms at a military base in Kaliningrad, a Russian enclave located between Poland and Lithuania, said officials who spoke on the condition of anonymity.
The officials confirmed NATO's provision of satellite photographs to the Polish government, which joined NATO in 1998, after it was reported yesterday by the Warsaw daily newspaper, Rzeczpospolita.
