A Supervalu lawsuit filed Jan. 4 against American Foods Group, the Wisconsin meat processor that the grocery chain says supplied it with ground beef contaminated with E. coli O157, is actually the second volley in the legal battles between the two companies.
On Dec. 12, American Foods sued Supervalu in Brown County Circuit Court in Green Bay, Wis., seeking more than $1.3 million in damages.
In the complaint, American Foods is alleging that, among other things, Supervalu has not paid for $1.3 million of ground beef supplied to the grocery chain in December.
